BBC Radio 1’s rising star, Maya Jama, took to Instagram last night revealing she had an, “exciting post coming tomorrow”, followed by “for me maybe not for you lot”. However, when Maya’s 4 page Vogue spread was revealed to the public earlier today, Jama’s fans, (including me of course) took to social media expressing their excitement for the 24 year olds continual success and greatness. Not to mention people’s obsession with the level of beauty in the images, which were photographed by Ben Weller. Maya jokingly stated that her “price just went all the way up”, and quite frankly, she’s damn right it did.
As seen on her Instagram page, Maya is somebody who is able to switch up her look with no hesitation. A Monday for Maya could typically look like a tracksuit kind of morning, rocking her boyfriends baggy joggers and hoody, to her 5pm look being a fluorescent latex dress from her Pretty Little Thing range, to her 9pm final look of the day, in a flawless coral ball-gown.
The continuity of switching it up allowed fans to witness yet another striking look from young Jama, as she rocked the softest, most natural painted face, whilst posing in the most elegant manor yet to be seen from her, in her Silk-Faille Gucci Gown.
Within Maya’s interview, she spoke with Olivia Singer about a variety of topics. From losing her Dad to prison due to his bad behavioural habits, to her and boyfriend Stormzy’s young-love fantasy.
One thing that can always be guaranteed when it comes to an interview with Maya, is her realness. The talented, good-natured Bristolian is never afraid to speak the truth, and speak it in such depth. Not only that, but she also remains humble at all costs. On the departure of Maya and Olivia’s interview, which was held at Mayfair’s luxurious Sexy Fish restaurant, Maya hugged the maitre d’ goodbye. She also met up with a huge fan at her Vogue shoot, to give advice and warm words to someone looking to follow in the superstars footsteps.
Things are going to keep progressing for this delightful, talented presenter and her fans are going to be routing for her all the way. Maya is a great example of hard work pays off. She is always working towards the next big thing, and truly is a role model for all aspiring women.
